*Hypnotherapy for Pain Management: Principles & Practice

The use of hypnosis for pain relief and pain management in various contexts and settings (medical, dental, psycho-therapeutic, hospice, addictions) is backed by a multitude of empirical and clinical research studies. In fact, hypnosis is considered, not just a complementary, or alternative treatment modality for pain; it is considered an empirically supported and validated treatment. Bruce Eimer is the published author of Hypnotize Yourself Out of Pain Now! (2nd ed., 2008, Crown House Publishing) and also the co-author with Arthur Freeman, Ed.D., ABPP of Pain Management Psychotherapy (1998, John Wiley & Sons, Inc.).

Hypnosis for Smoking Cessation: Principles & Practice

The use of hypnosis for facilitating the change of dysfunctional behavior and harmful habits such smoking and overeating is backed by empirical evidence. In this one-day workshop, Bruce teaches how to use the brief cognitive hypnosis approach to help clients stop smoking often in just one visit. The course also covers strategies for follow-up with clients who do not respond in the first visit. The course is based on the material in the book Brief Cognitive Hypnosis: Facilitating the Change of Dysfunctional Behavior (Zarren & Eimer). Bruce is also the author of the CD/workbook program, Dr. Eimer’s Best Stop Smoking with Hypnosis Program.

*Client Centered Parts Therapy

This workshop is based on Roy Hunter’s book, Hypnosis for Inner Conflict Resolution: Introducing Parts Therapy (2005, Crown House Publishing). Parts Therapy (along with its variations, such as Ego State Therapy) is a proven and effective hypnotherapy technique to help clients overcome their conscious and unconscious resistance to change through the resolution of inner conflicts. Roy, who was a student of Parts Therapy pioneer, Charles Tebbetts (author of Miracles on Demand), has updated Tebbetts’s work over the years, and is a co-founder of the Tebbetts Parts Therapy Foundation. Roy teaches Parts Therapy workshops throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Bruce, who has studied Parts Therapy with Roy and Ego State Therapy with the late Helen Watkins and Jack Watkins, specializes in the use of Parts Therapy to help clients stop smoking, lose weight and manage chronic pain. You will return to your practice with effective techniques to help clients overcome their blocks to change and symptom relief (e.g., keeping the weight off, stopping smoking for good). Look at the Calendar for dates and locations of upcoming Parts Therapy workshops taught by Roy and/or Bruce.

Minimizing the Risks of Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy

As with any other treatment modality, psychotherapy entails risks. Risks cannot be avoided by ignoring them. Therefore, we need to know what they are. This one-day workshop examines the main risks for therapists in practicing psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, and covers ways to minimize the risks of inadvertent negative consequences. Fundamentals of therapy risk management are covered as a foundation for beginners and review for experienced practitioners. Safeguards that should be heeded by all practitioners are discussed.

Professional Hypnosis Training

Comprehensive professional hypnosis training ranging from basic hypnosis to advanced hypnotherapy is available for hypnotherapists, psychologists (CE credit hours offered), and all health professionals using hypnosis who wish to increase their competency and expand their areas of expertise. It includes (but is not limited to) material covered in Roy Hunter’s and Bruce Eimer’s “Diversified Client Centered Hypnosis” training course, Jordan Zarren’s and Bruce Eimer’s Brief Cognitive Hypnosis material, and the Dave Elman methods. The International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association has approved this course, and will grant continuing education credits for its members who expand their expertise in the art of hypnosis; and other hypnosis associations may do likewise.

Currently Bruce and Roy are each available for mentoring either in-person or by phone (or Skype). Bruce is the author of multiple texts, including: Pain Management Psychotherapy (1998, John Wiley), Brief Cognitive Hypnosis, and Ideomotor Signaling for Rapid Hypnoanalysis (2006, Charles Thomas). Roy is also the author of multiple texts, including The Art of Hypnosis and The Art of Hypnotherapy (both published by Crown House Publishing). You may reduce the in-person rate by attending with one to four colleagues.

Full certification courses are planned for the future. If you are interested, put your name on our contact list to be notified of the first class.
