About Dr. Bruce Eimer

Bruce Eimer, PhD, ABPPDr. Bruce maintains an independent psychology practice with locations in Lake Worth, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach and Boca Raton, Florida. He provides solution focused hypnosis, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy to adults, children, adolescents, and couples. Bruce is a licensed psychologist in Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey and has been a practicing clinical psychology and hypnotherapy since 1986. He has worked in outpatient private practice and inpatient hospital settings as a clinician and clinical supervisor. He served as the Director of Behavioral Health and Pain Psychology at the Comprehensive Pain Center at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, PA for seven years. Bruce is a Board Certified Diplomate with the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology.

Bruce is a Fellow with the American Psychological Association, the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

Bruce has authored or co-authored nine books, published over 100 journal articles or manuscripts, authored or c0-authored numerous book chapters, and conducted numerous professional presentations and workshops. He has written extensively about the fundamentals and varied applications of Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapies, and about how hypnosis, hypnotherapy, and suggestion-based techniques can be used for pain management, smoking cessation, and weight control. Bruce has developed three computerized scoring and reporting tests in the area of pain management. He has also served as an expert witness in numerous civil and criminal litigation proceedings.

Bruce’s 2012 article on the “Inadvertent adverse consequences of clinical and forensic hypnosis: Minimizing the risks” published in the July 2012 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis is a “must read” for graduate students learning about clinical hypnosis, as well as for all professional hypnotherapists, and his book, Pain Management Psychotherapy: A Practical Guide (1998) is a “must read” for any therapist who wants to treat clients with chronic pain. In 2010, Bruce earned the William Kroger Award for Best Paper on Hypnosis, Health, and Behavioral Medicine, bestowed by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

In sum, Dr. Bruce has made many valuable and distinctive contributions to the field of professional psychology, especially within the specialties of pain management, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychological hypnosis.
